Meet Louise
Louise Campbell-Pierson
Canine Behaviour Consultant
Hi, I’m Louise - the founder of Canine Friends and a Certified Separation Anxiety Behaviour Consultant. I specialise exclusively in separation anxiety and have supported hundreds of dogs and their guardians.

My work is grounded in ethical, evidence-based practice and focuses on creating lasting, sustainable change - particularly where previous advice hasn’t helped, or has made things more difficult.

I am currently working towards becoming a Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the ABTC and am studying an Ofqual regulated Level 6 Diploma in Clinical Canine Behaviour.

I am committed to continual professional development and keeping my work aligned with the most up-to-date, research-backed approaches.

My journey into canine behaviour has been shaped by both professional experience and personal insight.

I initially trained as a veterinary nurse, where I developed a strong interest in the relationship between veterinary medicine and behaviour. However, I quickly realised I wanted to specialise more deeply in behaviour than this role would allow.

I went on to run a dog walking business, which gave me invaluable hands-on experience working with dogs daily. From there, I pursued further training, becoming a certified dog trainer and later specialising in reactivity, working alongside a local behaviourist who mentored me.

During this time, I ran puppy classes, puppy socials, and managed a team of dog walkers and trainers, before transitioning to focus solely on behaviour work.

In 2021, I brought home my dog Luna, who showed signs of severe separation anxiety from the day she arrived.
Despite my experience, I quickly realised how complex and overwhelming separation anxiety can be - and how little practical guidance is available, even within the industry.

This led me to further specialise, completing my certification as a Separation Anxiety Behaviour Consultant under Julie Naismith - one of the leading voices in this field. Since then, I have dedicated my career to supporting dogs and their guardians through separation anxiety.

Alongside separation anxiety, I have a growing professional interest in the role of underlying pain and medical factors in behaviour. My work increasingly involves a collaborative, holistic approach - working alongside veterinary professionals, physiotherapists, and other specialists to ensure each dog receives appropriate, well-rounded support.

I understand firsthand how challenging behaviour issues can be, and I approach every case with empathy, care, and a deep respect for both the dog and their guardian.
